Calls From Home is a monthly CFRC Prison Radio segment that connects
friends and family with their loved ones behind Kingston’s prison walls
through the power of community radio.

In the news, we discuss the latest reports from the Auditor General of Canada and the Office of the Correctional Investigator, responses from the Correctional Service of Canada, a new report from the West Coast Prison Justice Society and Prisoners Legal Services calling on the government to abolish segregation, an incident at Edmonton Institution where a guard is alleged to have shot a prisoner in the testicles with a rubber bullet in retribution for a lawsuit, the “Extremism Prevention Program” from the Toronto Police, and the Trudeau Government announcing pipeline approvals for the Line 3 Replacement and Kinder Morgan’s Transmountain Pipeline Expansion, as well as dismissing Enbridge’s Northern Gateway.

We do our monthly Political Prisoner Birthday segment, thanks to the Prison Books Collective.

We play the following tracks:

Bad Gas by Lee Reed
Excursions by Tribe Called Quest
Double Portion by Dorothea (listener-submitted – thank you!)
The Lifer by Christian Collins
Chuck Berry by The Groove Commute
Time Bomb by Chumbawumba
