Calls From Home Featured on CBC Radio

Today, CBC Radio One featured a segment about our Calls From Home Holiday Special on radio stations across Ontario. We’re told it’s been picked up nationally so it should air on select stations across the country this week. Thanks to CBC for sharing the story with their listeners! What we do at CPR can be reproduced in other places with jails, prisons and detention centres in the broadcast range of a community radio station. Get in touch if you want to discuss setting up a show in your area!

Check out the segment that aired in Kitchener-Waterloo this morning:

This Year’s Calls From Home Holiday Special is December 19th at 7pm

Calls From Home is a monthly CFRC Prison Radio segment that connects friends and family with their loved ones behind Kingston’s prison walls through the power of community radio.

The holidays can be an especially difficult time to be apart from loved ones and community. This is a great time of year to let prisoners in the Kingston area know that you’re thinking of them – by sending a greeting, requesting a song or poem, or leaving a voicemail message to be read or played on the radio. Personal and general messages of support are both welcomed and encouraged!

CFRC Prison Radio will be broadcasting our special Holiday Calls From Home on Wednesday December 19th at 7PM, at 101.9fm in Kingston and worldwide at Please let your loved ones incarcerated in the Kingston area know – our signal reaches Collins Bay, Joyceville, Bath* and Millhaven* Institutions.

Voicemail messages can be left at 613-417-3359. Please visit our contact page or Facebook Page to see how you can get in touch at any time with your messages and requests!

*Reception at Millhaven and Bath can be spotty, depending where you are in the institution.
